Hi KooSIE ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
BIOS only allows to boot with an "authorized" adapter installed. If an unsupported card is detected, the BIOS prints a message on the screen and stops the system:
1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in - Power off and remove the miniPCI network card.
The card's sub-vendor PCI-ID (which can be seen using lspci -v) is checked against a whitelist in the BIOS. IBM/Lenovo's reasoning for this is that the combination of MiniPCI card and the integrated antenna in the ThinkPad needs to be certified by the US FCC (Federal Communications Commission).1 or similar agencies in other countries.
Accepted compatible wlan card listed on the hardware manual (item 12 page 77-78).
Modifying the BIOS is not recommended as it may pose risk of bricking the machine.
Hope this help answer your query.

So this means i can not upgrade my wifi to the max of 1,067Mbps only bcuz of some whitelist?. Maybe it's better Lenovo implements the new
INTEL Dual Band Wireless-AC 8260 adapter into the whitelist and update the bios.
I mean, who's notebook/ideapad/laptop or whatever is it ? Lenovo's or me?
I think it should be my choice if i want to upgrade some piece of hardware ..i even use the same brand (INTEL)
Anyway, Spidey101..thanks for your answer.

Hi KooSIE ,
Such limitation can surely be imposing among us users .
But as soon as the warranty goes out, then this may only be the only time we can do our personal changes as performed by others on different forum sites.
Best luck to all your endeavors.

So if i understand this correctly i can change the card only when the warranty goes out ? i mean, at this time it has.

You can do upgrades but would soon encounter an error because of the BIOS whitelist.
Modifying the BIOS would void the warranty and also may do harm (bricking the motherboard) if not done properly.

But it is impossible to modify the bios. i used this program i believe it was Phoenixtool256?
My bios is locked? Or do you know a way to get this done ?
