G410 AC adaptor problems

2015-10-29, 11:36 AM
Okay, so, my old AC Adaptor won't charge unless I bend it in a certain way. Over time, it gets increasingly difficult to find the "sweet spot" and just stopped functioning entirely.

So I swapped for a new one. It works well. But after a week or so, the reverse happens. As in, if I bend it in a certain way, it stopped functioning. I found this out because unplugging it is hard so I have to wiggle it. (It's still connected when I wiggle it and a bit of twist in the same position will charge it.)

My question is, will it become a problem? What can I do to not have the same problem again like my old AC adaptor?

Hi tenkoibito,

Just make sure you always remove the Charger by pull by the connector and dont pull from the cable.

Also there is a possibility that it is your DC jack that is loose that's why when you replace the Charger you still have a problem

This is how the DC jack part looks like

Hope this helps

Cheers!

in your question it is unclear to me weather yor replaced the ac adapter (the crarge cord) or the power assembly (in the laptop)

if you replaced the ac adapter and the problem is still there, i would recomend buying a new power assembly and replace it. it tells you how in the maintenance manual:

i found one online for $10 it is listed on the parts sheet so it should be compatable:

Thank you. I'll buy the DC jack later. The economy is slow here

I remembered I have another laptop with the same problem. This seems a very common problem for laptops. Is there a way to keep the problem from reoccuring after I buy a new DC jack? Cranking another $10 is a no-no.

i would just be careful when plugging it in and unplugging it.

that should keep it from breaking again
