G50-70 Boot issues...

Hey Guys,

                Gotta G50-70,Windows 8.1 refurb about 3 weeks old.....its got boot/startup issues.

The problem has developed where when the computer has been shut down fully and I then try to start it up the laptops boot process seems to be sticking for want of a better word.
When I press the startup button the light will flash on the front and I can hear the harddrive trying to start but then it stops.....this process then repeats every few seconds as if stuck.Sometimes if left for 10 min or so it will then boot.
This problem exsists when powered with mains and/or battery. The problem happens less if the laptop has been in use and is still warm.....if shut down and left overnight it is very difficult to boot/start.

Ive tried the process of discharging the battery and powering straight to the mains but it dosen't help.

As said the laptop is only a few weeks old and the only software I've installed is windows update.

Its a great little laptop but this is a frustrating issue.

Any thoughts most welcome.

Re: G50-70 Boot issues...

Hi bigbear1,

Welcome to the Community Forums,

No need to check on the BIOS for harddrive detection.

But what was obvious here is the slow start up that may be due to corrupted Windows/ softwares or an actual issue with the harddrive and other devices too.

Best to back up the files first for safe keep and run Lenovo Solution Center for hardware check up.

Likewise for possible heating issue / directly or indirectly causing performance issue , you may also run HWmonitor to check on internal temperature.

Any findings with error or outside normal limits needs to have repair done.

You may check on your warranty , and call in tech support .

Otherwise if all is passing them best to start with a clean slate using One key Recovery although it would delete all data inside , you would at least have a fresh start.

Novo key (left side page 9) to turn on the laptop, would give novo menu to perform system recovery.

Initial back up would reimage the entire harddrive for a new partition and image.

Update us on how it goes.
