G50-70 Laptop Screen Flashes When I Press the Power Buttion

Hello,

I have a G50-70 laptop and recently whenever I start the computer the screen flashes very dimly. This happens before it POSTs. The power light is on when this happens. I don't use this laptop much so I'm not exactly sure when it started, but I will be needing to use it every day now (but it has not always done this). When the issue happens it will flash from anywhere from a few seconds to many minutes (different everytime i start it). Once it does POST, it works just fine with no other issues. I tried reseating the display connector and RAM, with no improvement.

The laptop has Windows 10 Pro, an Intel i7-4710U processor (uses integrated graphics), and a Samsung 850 evo SSD. The only prefreial connected is a logitech M705 mouse. I tried disconnecting it before startup, with no improvement.

This link has what seems to be the same issue: http://lenovotalk.com/laptops/lenovo-g50-70-laptop-display-not-working.html

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ryan

As recommended from this discussion

If you are experiencing these symptoms, please upgrade your laptop to BIOS v3.03 or above:

Thank you Spidey101. I had to download the BIOS update from this link: http://support.lenovo.com/us/en/downloads/ds100522 instead of the one you posed since it was for a different laptop, but it worked!

Re: G50-70 Laptop Screen Flashes When I Press the Power Buttion

Hi ElkinsAdmin ,

Greetings.

Good to know updating BIOS for your current model did work , as the one on the service tip (newer) would be a option if older version would not work as the idea of point of failure would be best resolve with BIOS update. Keep the other BIOS link (service tip) handy for reference in the future if needed.

Best luck to your endeavors.

Regards

Re: G50-70 Laptop Screen Flashes When I Press the Power Buttion

Elkins, I have the same problem in Lenovo z510 , I tried to install updated bios, but windows restarted to affect changes, causing the flashing screen loop again. can you please explain how were you able to update the bios clearly?

And we're back...
