G50-80 i5-5200U RAM Upgrade

Hello,

I bougth a Lenovo G50-80 core i5-5200U and I was wonder if it is be possible to install 16 GB RAM on it.

I found only conflicting information, and I want to know for sure if the maximum installable is 8 or 16 GB.

Thanks in advance,

Tony

Re: G50-80 i5-5200U RAM Upgrade

 Hi tphanelly ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Ideally it would be best if we use the machine number to verify the details.

It would be on the label or check it here

A usual G50-80 core with i5-5200U would have a max RAM 16 GB .

2 separate location/ slot for a dual channel model (page 41) .

Best to physically check it on your pc on the bottom after removing the base cover .

The G50 series would have a standard memory (page 28) of :  DDR3L, SODIMM × 1 / SODIMM × 2 (max 8 GB / 16 GB) depending on the machine number .

As that would be the case after checking the standard product specification on the G50 series:

N2830 / N3530 models: 8GB max / PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3L, non-parity, one 204-pin SO-DIMM socket, system automatically clocks down for 1333MHz DDR3 memory controller

Other models: 16GB max / PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3L, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets ( i5-5200U are one of it).

Update us how it is for the memory slots.

Regards
