can someone please tell me if the following ram would work for my laptop (model has the i5 - 5200U) .
and is there any performance difference between those 2? I want to equip my system with 2x 4 GB Dual Channel RAM, the first one comes as a kit the second one only single which means i had to buy 2 of those. And the Samsung stock RAM will be removed.

Welcome to the Community Forums.
Similarly discussed here , you may have currently 4GB so adding another 4GB DDR3L (low voltage 3.5V) 1600 Mhz would be the cheaper way to get total of 8GB. Paired dual channelled DDR3L would add performance but does not require that it should be a kit. Just get the same specs ram and capacity as the original.
The second option may not work since it would need a low voltage DDR3.
I hope this helps answer your query.

What you said directly leads me to the next question - In what areas can I expect performance improvements after switching from 4GB with 800 Mhz to 2x 4GB 1600? i would like to see a bit more FPS in games, the R5 M330 runs some older games in 720p Resolution quite well, but 10-20% more FPS would make a big difference.

In some rate, adding RAM may increase FPS depending on several factors like hardware and how the game is coded but not as significant as more powerful GPU and CPU.
This would certainly increase temporary data capacity for easier processing which in effect include smoothness of movement during games and response time. This would allow you to open more tabs while an application is open. Applications itself can process faster than previously like opening and editing and applying changes.
I am sure that it would be something that you yourself can feel in effect by doubling the ram from previous capacity.
