G50 - Windows 10 - audio output jack

2016-02-28, 20:46 PM

When I plug headphones into the headphone jack, the internal speakers turn offas expected, but there i no audio from in the phones. I hear a very faint, steady,  tone in the phones. Laptop is a Lenove G50, windows 10, phones are tested good. Is there a setting I need to use to turn on the headphone jack?

I had the same problem and it bugged me for a long time.

The solution I found worked for me was to go to Control Panel and open it.

Then go to the top right hand corner and click on “View by:”

Choose from the drop down menu “small icons”.

You should now see a list of options.

Look for an icon that has a headset on it.

Run your arrow over it and you should see the program name “SmartAudio”.

Click on the icon and it will open with two separate windows on your left.

One window will have a microphone icon and volume control, the other a speaker and volume control.

Plug in your headphone and the top icon (speaker) should change to a headphone icon.

You can now adjust the volume and you will (hopefully) find the headphones work.

When you unplug the headphones the speaker icon will return.

Hope this helped.
