Hi, ..... I am new here, please bear with me. My battery stopped charging, so tried new lead, didnt work, tried new battery, didnt work... did the take the battery out disconnect AC, hold button down for 30secs trick.... didnt work.... LED lights were both white to begin with but after re- booting I now have a solid orange battery light. Laptop doesnt start if I take the battery out and just use AC, but I read somewhere that some Lenovos do that..... so .... any ideas as to what might be going on? I have read a lot of posts about possible solutions but no luck, so here I am, thanks in advance

Hi elaineanne ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
The hardware manual from the support website (choose your model) , power checkout and battery status LED would give us ideas about the battery.
What Windows version are you currently using ?
As it usually should power on without the battery , seems that the machine doesn't recognize the battery .
Is there a battery icon to check the status.
Generate a battery report if possible since it would give us further insights .
Usually checking the BIOS version and the updated read me BIOS from the driver website if related specially if both Microsoft acpi battery driver in device manager and Energy manager is already uninstalled having the same issue.
On the hardware side as indicated from the manual , findings may lead to possible systemboard problem that you need to consult technical support or loca service center .
Update us as convenient.

Hi.... many thanks for your quick response..... unfortunately I now have only 9% of battery left, there is no message about status, just a solid amber LED at battery symbol which means - I have followed all your links and looked everything up - that the battery is low and not charging.... there is no AC power getting to the laptop, just a window coming up saying, you need to plug in your device..... and its plugged in.........it has a new lenovo battery in and a new lenovo lead, but no electricity is going in.... sounds dead huh? probs should take it to a laptop engineer????

Hi elaineanne ,
If after trying the above steps mentioned on the links and as battery reporting would also reflect hardware intervention may be needed.
If this would be a company machine , have it checked for possible systemboard issue else to call in Lenovo Technical support.
