G500 - Mouse not moving while key is pressed

2015-02-04, 3:49 AM

I am using a Lenovo G500 (product 20236), I couldnt find the correct forum. Move to wherever necessary.

I have a problem where the mouse does not move or click while I am holding down a key. I want to do this without disabling my mouse driver, even though I really dont give a zero about its features other than scrolling. This "feature" is so frustrating, and can easily be replicated: Press a key other than alt, ctrl, or shift, and try to move the mouse. I want to be able to move the mouse while holding a key without removing the driver, but I dont want to remove the driver.

Moderator note: moved to appropriate forum.  Edited subject.

Mod's Edit: System model added to front of Subject line to improve visibility / clarity.

Hi Stiffie,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

As per the query we understood that you are looking to move the mouse cursor while key is pressed in your G500 laptop.

As you have mentioned when the drivers are uninstalled then its works, please try to update the driver and check for the issue.

Click here for the driver for windows 7.

Click here for the driver for windows 8.

Click here for the driver for windows 8.1.

Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!

Best regards,

There is no setting to allow mouse movement while a key is pressed. In fact, the one feature I actually cared about, single finger scrolling, was removed. Backtracking I guess?

Hi Stiffie,

Thanks for the reply.

As you have mentioned that the one finger scrolling is removed, please check if the one finger scrolling is enabled. To enable the one finger scrolling go to control panel, select mouse under mouse select ultranav tab.

Under ultra nav tab select scrolling and double click on one finger scrolling option and enable the one finger scrolling option by ticking the check box.

Hope this helps. Do post back if issue persists!

Best regards,

There is no ultranav anywhere, and one finger scrolling is not in the Elan settings. There used to be one finger scrolling here.wainer.png

G500 (20236) Touchpad disabled when a key is pressed

2015-12-24, 3:50 AM

I posted this issue a while back, and I am still having the issue. it is impossible to use the touchpad while a key is pressed, and for 1 second after the key is released. have searched the forums and have yet to find a solution for my model. I have updated my driver, and set the sensitivity/palm tracking to as low as possible. I am currently running Windows 8.1 64 bit, and have no plans to update to Windows 10 any time soon. The only keys unaffected by this are shift, ctrl, alt, and fn. This is impacting my experience with the product. I know it seems so late to post this over 2 years after purchasing it, but I havent found a solution yet. I am shocked at the staff's ignorance to this issue. At least put a setting on there. This issue affects just about every gamer who uses your product.

TL;DR: it is impossible to use the touchpad while a key is pressed, and for 1 second after the key is released, and it impacts me as well as every single gamer.

The problem is the ELAN pointing device. Download the Synaptics pointing device and the problem will be solved.
