G500s BIOS not detecting new ram

Hi, ive just upgraded my Lenovo G500s ram by swopping the stock 1x4gb stick with 2x8gb sticks (corsair vengence, 1866MHz, DDR3L).

Problem ive is that the bios is only recognising 8gb instead of the 16gb it should be seeing...

I've tried removing 1 stick at a time to check if it's a bad stick or bad ram slot,  but then the bios is only reporting 4gb per stick.

Do I need to configure some settings somewhere?

Greatly appreciate any help.

Serial number is: ******

Mod's Edit: Serial number removed from public view to protect owner from its unwanted use.

Re: G500s BIOS not detecting new ram

What is the model number of your machine, ie 20FC?

Your machine should support 16GB of the following memory:

DDR3L  PC3L-12800 1600MHZ  SODIMM

Hi, the model name is 20245. It's about 3 years old.

Re: G500s BIOS not detecting new ram

Someone's suggested to me that because the new ram I've bought is low voltage, that might be the problem, but I've read up on this and believe that low voltage ram is backward compatible , so shouldn't be an issue.
