G500s - Can I upgrade..... Processor & RAM ?

My laptop is a G500s( out if warranty ) , serial no :********. I have been using it for quite a while, and I it will be much better to have a core i5 processor rather than an i3 processor. So my question is that can I upgrade my PC's RAM and processor..

Mod's Edit: Additional information added to Subject line for clarity of issue.

Serial number removed from public view to protect owner from its unwanted use.

Re: G500s - Can I upgrade..... Processor & RAM ?

Hi Manny9271 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would you rather have the machine number as SN are confidential information to check specific details.

Check on the machine number from the sticker or check it from here ,just keep your serial number confidential.

Looking at the hardware manual (item 8 page 81 ) are the FRU list making sure that you use the part number for OEM orders .

RAM : DDR3L-1600 (support DDR3) • SODIMM × 2 Slots  max 16GB  (RAM item 16 page 83-84) for upgrades.

Chipset :  HM76/HM70

Regards

Re: G500s - Can I upgrade..... Processor & RAM ?

Hi Manny9271 ,

Additional device can influence power utilization in someway but as long as within the OEM standards as shown in the FRU list , this model design are distributed on other machine number with such add on parts so you would still be within the recommended performance standard.
