G500s Touch Screen not recognized

2016-01-30, 14:01 PM

I have a G500s Touch laptop and have used the touch screen in the past. It is not working now and when I go the the PC info in my settings it indicates No pen or touch input is available for this display. How can I get the touch screen function back?

Hi Suemac,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

Which operating system is running on your laptop?

Regards,

Shashi Kumar

I am running Windows 8.1

I find if I shut down completely I can get the touchscreen back, but if I restart, I lose it. It's very random. Today it is working and it shows that I do have touch support. When it is not working it says I don't.

Hi Suemac,

Welcome to Lenovo Forums.

This issue might occur if the touch screen driver is corrupt.

Let’s check if there is an error for the Human Interface devices under Device Manager. Follow the steps to check:

  • Press Windows+X keys and select Device Manager.
  • Locate Human Interface devices icon and expand the driver icon.
  • Check for any exclamation mark or an error for the driver.

To troubleshoot the issue further, proceed to the troubleshooting methods mentioned below:

Method 1:

Let’s run the hardware and device trouble-shooter and check if it resolves the issue. Refer to the link to know how to run the trouble-shooter:

Refer to the section “Run the Hardware and Devices trouble-shooter”

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-8/what-device-isnt-installed-properly

If the issue still persists, proceed to the next method.

Method 2:

Uninstall and reinstall the touch screen drivers. Follow the steps below:

  • Press Windows+X keys and select Device Manager.
  • Locate Human Interface devices icon and expand the driver icon.
  • Right Click on each driver and choose Uninstall. Click on Scan for hardware changes icon on the top of the window. Check if it fixes the issue. If not, restart the laptop and the device drivers will be reinstalled automatically.

If the issue still persists, download and install the latest chipset and display driver for Windows 8.1. Refer to the link to do so:
