G505s a8-4500m - upgrade?

Hello, I have g505s with a8-4500m APU. I often play GTASmiley FrustratedA, I have ~30-35FPS in game, frame limiter is off. Recently I found this opinion:

At the moment it does not matter even if your CPU is running at half speed because it will always provide only half the performance you should have because it uses a single DIMM of memory. You need dual channel memory, at DDR3-1600, to supply an A8 APU with enough bandwidth so it is not bottlenecked. You NEED to add a second 4GB DDR3-1600 DIMM to this laptop. Based on the experiences of other users who have reported to OCN, your game performance will double or more - and you will be able to make use of a full 2.8Ghz frequency if you can get that issue addressed.

It is a true?

And I want to know, every G505s has dedicaded graphic?

Hi there, Jogus                        -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

Generally, if you are using an AMD APU (A Series) that combines CPU with GPU the performance will be less than if you have a dedicated card. It is better than Intel HD graphics that are present with i-Series chips, but still less than dedicated would be and is industry wide.

If you intend to game I would suggest looking for a dedicated graphics card (mobile version) instead of relying upon embedded options.

Did you try updating the BIOS ?

Update us how it goes.

Re: G505s a8-4500m - upgrade?

You can upgrade to the A8-4600m as long as the BIOS can recognize that APU.

Can you try opening Device Manager and check under display adapters,

It should have 2 Graphics devices under it.

When you have a moment, can you please refer to this bug that was filed regarding a similar issue and let me know if it is relevant to the problem you are seeing?

Update us how it goes.
