G505s won't turn on

I've had my G505s since 12/13 and it will not power up. Ran a big windows 10 update about a week ago and the laptop just quit a couple days ago. I've verified power brick is ok and tried working one, tried removing battery, ac plug, ram, holding power 30 sec, etc. to no avail. I've removed hd as well. Initially when it wouldn't power on I would get 3 blinks of a reddish light on the front, but no longer get that. Nothing lights up, no sounds, just dead. Read the MB may be fried. Probably not worth to fix. Any other ideas?

Re: G505s won't turn on

Just read this post, and I had a stray silver screw as well, near dvd player. No idea where it was from.

Re: G505s won't turn on

Hi there, Jackal           -

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today

A number of us have had similar issues, at least with G505s. The fix to this is to send it to a service center and they will replace the motherboard if the system is still under warranty. Also, it could be a faulty battery. This usually happens if the battery is not communicating with the system.

I would suggest you visit the nearest Lenovo service centres for assistance. Schedule a Call-back for faster support.

Update us how it goes.

Regards,

Re: G505s won't turn on

Yeah I figured it was a mb repair. I watched some videos and looked up prices and it doesn't really seem worth it for a 3 yr old laptop. So moving on from my one and only lenovo. Pretty dissappointed. It wasn't the best experience when it worked.

One question though, can you explain how a faulty battery would keep the unit from working with the battery removed? All laptops I've ever owned work on just the ac adapter.

EDIT: no longer under warranty
