G510 and SATA Hard Drive Bay Adapte

So, I just buyed a Laptop Lenovo 15.6'' IdeaPad G510, i7-4700MQ, and I changed the shdd with a ssd, but I want to put the shdd in a caddy in the place of ODD(SATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter), I buyed a generic caddy(25$), but sometimes it get me freeze and some generic hardware errors in eventviewer, so my question it is , are Lenovo SATA Hard Drive Bay Adapter for this laptop(from what I google, I see some but not for my laptop model).

Thank you.

Re: G510 and SATA Hard Drive Bay Adapte

Hi Pigulici,

I’m sorry to inform you that there is no Lenovo Caddy available for this model computer, as per one of the generic caddy manufactures below information should be emailed to them to check if the caddy is compatible with your computer model. Below is the information that should be sent to the vendor you have purchased the Caddy.

This is the exact message from one of the vendors: “If you are not sure this will work for your Lenovo G510 notebook, please email the dvd model number, which you could see in the control panel-->system-->hardward-->device manger-->dvd rom, you should be able to see the model number listed. And they will let you know which one to use and buy”.

Do post us back for further queries.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Re: G510 and SATA Hard Drive Bay Adapte

Well after more research, I find that drivers are the problem(intel drivers from chipset and intel energy management on windows 7), so I conclude that I must wait for more mature drivers/bios before I can use at full potential the hardware of G510.

Re: G510 and SATA Hard Drive Bay Adapte

Hi Pigulici,

This issue normally occurs if the driver available for the Hardware (Caddy) may not be compatible or digitally recognized by the Manufacturers.

No, the problem it is not only with the caddy, without I have same errors, I don't have errors in linux or windows safe mode, I will put that problem in another post, next days.
