G510 doesn't load the battery when its ON

Hello fellas! I've bought a new G510 (B00FQLVHK0) with an i7, SSHD, 8750XT and free DOS. And got following problem: When the Notebook is on it won't switch to the Desktop modus. It's not reconizing the connected AC-Adapter  and stays in Batterymode, but whoever it does load energy  when the Notebook is off. I've also tryed to boot up without the battery and it gets for a second Energy (Lenovo sign appearing) then turns off. It doesn't get this energy when the Powercable is not connected. I was thinking first of a wrong BIOS setting, but there really limited options and it's also not possible to update the BIOS in Battery mode. I'm running Windows 7 with all relevant drivers. A different OS did not help aswell. Tryed it with Win 8, and Linux Mint Debian and has all the same characteristica.

Hope there is a solution! Thanks for reading.

Re: G510 doesn't load the battery when its ON

Hi Jonze                ,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I’m sorry to hear that your G510 Laptop is not working as expected, I suggest you to perform the Flee-Power and BIOS reset. Below are the steps to check and resolve the issue:

  1. Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer.
  2. Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer.
  3. If the issue persists even after performing Flee Power then resetting BIOS to its defaults should resolve the issue
  4. Now to access BIOS menu press the NOVO button which is located beside the power button after turning OFF the computer.
  5. Then select the BIOS utility option to enter BIOS.
  6. To reset the BIOS to its defaults click on “F9” Key and select YES.
  7. Now click on “F10” Key to save the changes that are done in BIOS, the computer should automatically restart. Please check if the issue persists.

Hope this helps!!!

Do post us back if the issue still persists.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar
