Re: G530-4446-24U takes FOREVER to POST after BIOS update

2009-11-12, 21:28 PM

Since the BIOS v1.09 is meant for the 4446 models, thats the one that should be fixed. the BIOS v52 is meant for the 3000 G530, which has bluetooth and other functions that these models dont have.

The post time with the 1.09 bios is fine, it is the normal speed.

I'd like to know if there'll be an update on this sometime, and if the bios is specifically the right one for my model - G530 MT4151, since I read only about the 4446. (And that it's for win7; since the other ones say xp+vista, i'm not sure)

I also hope they fix the bios for the 4446 models too. I have a 4446-24U, and the G530 BIOS doesnt work. I love the machine, but they need to fix the brightness problems.

Re: G530-4446-24U takes FOREVER to POST after BIOS update

Mark, I wonder what the situation is here.

It's been nearly a month since your posting.

It is certainly odd to be able to have a nicely working G530-Windows 7, yet with this 1-minute bootup black screen.

Using the counsumer site '52'  Bios, which is actually 1.15  compared to the ibm site 1.09.

I cannot understand why there are the two sites, and with very different contents - no Win7 drivers, as well as the bios variant, on the ibm site.

Thank you for what you are able to contribute.

francisgl, et all,

Thank you for your efforts to clarify which BIOS is being applied.   Let me restate what I think I understand from the thread to make sure we look at the right combination.  Please correct me if I've misinterpreted what is being said here...

I think I've heard from this group that loading BIOS 52 from the consumersupport site pages (For IdeaPad and many valueline systems) fixes the brightness (ability to change brightness of screen using FN + brightness keys on keyboard?)  but creates an undersired slow POST / Startup of around 60 seconds.

BIOS 1.09 on the main Lenovo support site   boots fine, but has the brightness issue?

We will check out both, I just wanted to confirm what we are looking for so we can get both updated appropriately.

Mark

im facing the same problem reading this posts... I have Lenovo G530 4446-A12 . I have the brigtness issue and also sleep and hibernation problems. Is lenovo preparing for new bios for windows 7 users? I run Win 7 64bit and im scared to use the 1.15 bios update cos as i read previosly it wont solve my sleep and hibernationt problem ( restarting when i try to restore ) . Any expierence??? i cann pass with the one minute waiting if the 1.15 bios will solve my brightness issue and sleep/hibernate problems..

I dont know whether it will fix the problem or not. I didnt see any, but with the BIOS not made for this model and all, i dont want to risk destroyiong the machine.

Re: G530-4446-24U takes FOREVER to POST after BIOS update

Well mark, when do we get the solutions to the non-working brightness and care center buttons? I have a 444623u with Win7 ultimate 32bit installed. I upgraded the memory to 4 gig but windows tells me it can only use 2.96GB, am not sure if the rest is reseved for video memory or gone to waste as I now have 1.26GB video memory .Anybody knows how to get the rest of my memory usable? Also the processor supports x64, but am not sure if the system does. Can the 444623u run on x64 OS? :mansad:
