I PURCHASED A NEW G530 WITH XP PRO A COUPLE MONTHS AGO. NOW THE COMPUTER WILL NOT BOOT UP. WHEN I PRESS THE POWER BUTTON IT SOUNDS LIKE IT MAY START UP BUT THEN IT IMMEDIATLY SHUTS DOWN. THE POWER LIGHT STAYS ON AND FAN RUNS BUT NOTHING EVER APPEARS ON THE SCREEN. ANY SUGGESTIONS? THANKS

I purchased a G530 with XP Pro in late June. Nothing seemed to be working right and within a month it started doing what yours does. I had to return it - at my own expense - to the Lenovo Repair Depot where they replaced the hard drive. Unfortunately, they didn't fix the display problem.
