After reading in several Lenovo forums that the LEnovo ReadyCom program is faulty, I decided upgrade to Windows 7 and not install Lenovo's REadyCom program. The problem no longer occurs.
Conclusion #1: Lenovo's ReadyCom program does appear to be the problem.
Conclusion #2: There is a design flaw in DLink and TransNet routers, maybe in all new routers, that permits computers to cause the router to crash & reboot. Think what would happen if a hacker wrote a virus program that exploited this flaw and caused routers everywhere to start crashing.
I consider my original question solved. Thank you.
