Re: G550 not starting

Hi samreenv,

Greetings.

Assuming that the ac charger is ok then perhaps you can proceed isolating the cause per parts.

Unplug the charger and remove the battery, remove the harddrive and try one ram at a time , test one stick at each ram then plug in the charger and use the novo button to power on.

This should give a display a novo menu with option going to the BIOS. If it still have the black screen with solid white power on the led , then best to have it taken to a service center to test the systemboard and CPU other than the thermal assembly and fan.

I hope this helps you how to proceed.

Regards

Re: G550 not starting

Thank you for replying so quickly. I have tried everything as you suggested. Removed the battery, removed the hard drive, tried both ram sticks one by one on each slot, then tried to start the laptop but nothing works. As soon as I plug in the charger, the power led turns on. Nothing else works. There is no novo button on my laptop, but there is a recovery button, II thin called one key recovery. I have tried that too, but no..

Re: G550 not starting

Hi samreenv,

Greetings.

On this situation, we have a failed POST (power on self test). You may need to have the systemboard and CPU checked specially if you tried cleaning the fan and reapplied thermal paste. Service center may be able to verify if this may be a board issue as I expect that they would be able to do board mapping and swapping with known good parts.

Regards
