G560 Notebook Power/Battery Problems- Will not boot

2012-10-21, 5:55 AM

My G560 laptop has been experiencing power problems recently. The charger appears to have very poor conductivity because the laptop's battery continually decreases with time even with the charger plugged in. However, I'm not even sure that this is a charger problem...maybe it's a battery issue? My device has been "dead" for many days because it's been completely out of power. How can I resolve this issue? Thanks in advance.

Update: Not sure if this is relevant, but I'm currently running Win8 Release Preview on the G560.

Interesting development...

2012-10-22, 1:08 AM

After 2 days since my battery has been depleted and my computer dead, I plugged the charger back into the G560 and it booted up and lasted for about 10 min. However, my taskbar indicated that I had "0% remaining" battery all throughout this time.

Any suggestions as to what could have caused this anomaly?

Also..

Computer also does not work with AC adapter only (w/ battery removed) or with the battery attached...with that said, the power status light flashes orange (indicating 0% pwr) only if the battery pack is inserted.

It also seems that many other people also have some sort of battery/power problem with their laptop but have not gotten to a solution.

I realize this is most likely a hardware problem, but what parts should I replace?

Any help is appreciated

I am also facing the same problem with my Lenovo G560, which I have been using for last 2 years.

When I plug-in the power adapter (with battery removed) and press power button nothing happens.

If battery is present  then it just flashes 3 times and nothing happens.
