I've looked at numerous forums for solutions to no avail. I haven't used my computer in a couple years and the last time i used there were no issues. When i finally needed to use it i plugged it in, tried to turn it on and the power light would turn on for about 2 second and it turned off. I assumed it was the fact the battery was dead and waited till it fully charged, but the same thing happens every time. I've tried removing power + the battery and pressing the power button 100 different times and ways, I've tried removing graphics card, ram, etc. to see if it's one of them. I'm at the point of chalking it up to a motherboard issue, but before i do I'm wondering if there is something that I'm missing.

Hi drbrendanbreen ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
Would the battery LED show some activity?
Power check out can help test integrity on the ac adapter (page 21) as same goes on testing the battery pack .
Using the Novo button from off can also power on the system.
If same issue possible points of failure as you may have also thought of could be systemboard , power board (item 4 page73)and cables and dc in port.
Hope this helps as additional information to the things you have already tried for a power issue failure.
