Hi all!
I have an older G580 laptop. It came with a B950 CPU and i wanted to upgrade the CPU.
I studied the Hardware Maintenance manual for the supported CPU's.
On page 101 it says (amongst others):
Intel SNB I3-2350M 2.3G 3M J1 PGA Processor.
I found one like that cheap and i bought it.
I installed it succesfully, but it does not work correctly.
Although it has 4 threads, any software or test only detects 2 cores, 2 threads. It seems that hyperthreading does not work.
Laptop model is G580 model name 20157
BIOS is the latest i could found, version 62CN97WW
Others reported the same problem and solved it by BIOS update, but i cannot find any newer BIOS than this one.
Please help me.

Your new CPU is 2 cores, 2 threads each for a total of 4 threads.
Your new CPU supports hyper-threading. Check your BIOS( at current version) to enable this feature.
