Hi cukemark,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community Forums.

If you are referring to your touchpad, you may want to disable the tapping feature of the touchpad.  The touchpad settings may need to be adjusted according to your use.

To disable this, hit start then go to control panel. Under control panel look for hardware and sound -double click (View by: Category) then double click on mouse. Under control panel look for mouse -double click (View by: Large or Small Icons) Go to device settings tab, then hit settings, the properties of the Synaptics, click on the tapping item, then uncheck enable tapping. Hit apply, then hit ok.

To further add you may also try adjusting palm check and sensitivity to avoid accidentally hitting the touchpad while typing.  These settings can be seen under the device settings of the touchpad properties.

Thank you.

Don

Found the easy and direct method for Disabling the G580's tracking pad:

Go to --> CONTROL PANEL

Click to open properties-->MOUSE

Select--> ELAN tab

Check box:  Disable when external USB pointing device plug in

I think Ida has spotted the problem.

By sheer co-incidence, I disabled ELAN only yesterday.

I have yet to see all the resulting changes in mouse behaviour.

I have the same problem (touch pad is too sensitive) but have a windows 8 Lenovo and don't have a start button - can you help with how to get to the control panel please. I also find that the mouse sometimes floats off after I have stopped moving my finger on the mouse pad.
