G580 warranty date wrong

2012-09-26, 16:49 PM

As I understand it the G580 laptop has a 1year warranty as standard which would run from the purchase date (or from the first time the machine was booted up)

The warranty date on my machine purchased yesterday (25 sept 2012) is 22 June 2012. This is the manufacturing date.

The warranty date shown by entering the serial number on the Lenovo support website shows 22 June 2012.

It seems no-one, including Lenovo business partners, know how to correct this.

Am I wrong in believing the warranty runs from the purchase/delivery/1st use date ?

Am I missing something very trivial to correct the date?

I believe most manufacturers put in a warranty date in the event that you cannot provide a proof of purchase. If you have a proof of purchase that usually suffices for in store purchases or if you purchased it and had it shipped if you have a copy of the waybill indicating the delivery and online receipts this usually suffices as well. Can't guarantee this for Lenovo but that has been my experience as an industry standard.
