to roitner:
Everything was decided.
From remote access to the laptop and went to delete drivers for Intel video.
After rebooting, Windows put his drivers (9.17.10.2932) and everything works fine.
Thank you.

It should be from this tip in support site:

http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?DocID=HT080432

I'm still getting the web team to associate the BIOS to G700 so users can find the BIOS easily without having to check this tip content.

Due to concern about any issue may arise from flashing BIOS by yourself, you're recommended to get assistance from nearby service centre for flashing the new BIOS. You are advised to let engineers know that the new BIOS should fix this F4 function key issue that you encounter to avoid being charged.

Update to version 7ACN89WW or above should address this F4 key.

I'm truly sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Best regards,

Cleo

It isn't a big problem:

1. Download the new BIOS - thats not dangerous - you find the correct link in Cleo's post.

2. Turn down your notebook

3. Start the BIOS - use the Novo Key (instead of the start Button)

- the Novo Key is right next the Start Button and is explained in the manual

a small window - Novo Button Menu - will open where you must choose "BIOS Setup"

4. In the BIOS Setup go to "Configuration"

5. In Configuration choose "Bios Flash Back" an set it "enabled"

6. Go to "EXIT"

7. Choose "Exit Saving Changes"

The notebook will restart. The notebook should be connected to external power and the battery should be in the notebook.

8. Start the 7acn89ww.exe (you downloaded before)

The program will advise you exactly what to do. Do not switch off or disconnect from external power until the program is finished. The program will turn down the machine and restart (as far as I remember 2 times).

9. After finishing the F4 should work perfectly.

Hi COFFEEECUP,

The standard process that normally practised by all service centres (regardless which company) is that flashing BIOS is an extra service. I understand why they said it's chargable. But if an issue arise, and can be fixed with BIOS, then it should not be charged.

You are right that this function key problem issue should be covered under warranty. They are probably not aware of this issue that comes with a P&C tip for them attend to customers. Did you tell them that flashing bios could fix the F4 function key problem ? They should check the Lenovo support web for this update.

roitner,
Thanks for your steps guiding users about flashing the BIOS. Due to decision of not disclosing BIOS download without permission, I have no choice but advise customers approaching service centre.

For those dealing with service centre, please let service centre know that this BIOS update will solve the function F4 key issue. If the service centre is going to charge, you could PM me and I'll see what I could help.

Sorry for my english.
Tell me whether you can solve the same problem in G710 laptop? BIOS or this will not work?
