G700 microphone quiet

2013-11-24, 15:05 PM

Hello,

I just bought a Lenovo Laptop G700 (I hope this is the right category here) and the onboard microphone is very, very quiet, it is almost impossible, to hear anything. I run Windows 8 64bit. The Microphone is not deactivated and is turned to 100 percent in the settings, so that cannot be the problem. Then I thought the Problem migth be the driver, so i deinstalled the audio driver (the result was that the sound did not work anymore, obviously, i just write it that people see i deinstalled it correctly) and then I looked for the IDT audio driver on the lenovo website for Windows 8, 64 bit and installed it. The result was that the microphone worked correctly! The problem is that after a restart the microphone was quiet again. This is the reason why I think that it is a problem with the drivers and not a hardware failure. But I dont know why it got back to the quietness after the restart. Also when I look at the microphone device in the device manager in the driver category it still shows me the driver date of the old driver, so i think the installation of the new driver did not work, even though i deinstalled the old one completly so that the sound was not working and then installed the right driver. I dont knwo what is happening. Any ideas? I would be very thankfull for anything.

Below a screenshot from the microphone driver information. You can see that it is still the old driver, not the new one. Freaky!

Love!

I'm your opinion. The microphone is quiet.
I have done:
Go to Control - Hardware and Sound,
open change system sounds
go to Record (2nd Tab)
Double Click Microphone
Go to 3rd Tab (in German PEGEL might be Sound level in English)
You will find 2 options - set them both to highest level)

I also have the microphone problem on my new g700 with Windows 8.1

I can not use Skype

The drivers are the most recent. Mic is on,  level is 100% and boost is on.

Still....... it does not pick-up any sound. ( also tried soundrecorder)

Who can help?

you might go to the site:

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-3000-Valueline-Notebooks/g700-internes-mikrofon-geht-nicht/td-p/1283109

In case nothing does help you should return your Lenovo G700

Well, that did not work to.

I've bought the Lenovo in Holland just before I emigrated to England so returning is not really an option.

Please advise on this.

My opinion: The microphone of the Lenovo G700 is scrap (don't know why Lenovo produces such scrap).

Furthermore there was never any statement from Lenovo or Lenovo Support, how to handle this scrap. Very very poor compared to NoName-producers. A simple Quanta QW 6 (which is much lower in price) works much better than the Lenovo G700.

The working solution of your problem (I handle this so): Take the micro from a smartphone and use it instead of the build in micro. If you don't have buy one - you might take the cheapest you can get and it will be much much better than the built in micro.
