Re: G700 onboard GPU?

HI there!

I have the same problem: I installed a i7-3632qm on a G700 because the manual stated that this cpu is supported. This was the reason why i bought this laptop. The laptop now alwys crashes almost exactly 30 minutes after beeing switched on. I´ve been using ibm/lenovo laptops for ages and have done many cpu-replacements without any problems. I definitely feel tricked by lenovo. Do you guys think it is possible to read out the BIOS and modify the whitelist thing. This used to be a solution, but I am not sure if this is a way to go with these new UEFI-BIOSes ??

hi rancoon
it maybe but i dont have any experience in that department bud its i found because of the intel chipset on mine thats the problem my laptop uses the 2020m cpu and lenovo only used the intel hm 70 chipsett where you need a 77 chipset to run the i core ones which they have used in the g700 that are build with them in bud

hi topgear,

thanks for your quick response. I think you are very right. it´s the chipset. intel specs say that the chipset HM70 is for pentium and celeron cpu´s. this way, I have to withdraw blaming lenovo for whitelistening (just in case I did). However, it´s a pitty because the g700 is a great mashine (i strongly recommend it to the "ordinary user", who doesnt want to upgrade the cpu - that must be 99.9% of all buyers). Well, I think this is the reason why lenovo can produce such a great product for such an excellent price.
