G710 - Can't boot from USB

So recently the hard drive of my Lenovo G710 started working worse and worse so I did a system back up to an external hard drive. After that I bought a new harddrive(has nothing on it, not even windows). I installed that one in my laptop and pressed the Recovery button. So I selected system recovery but every time when I do that it sats 'iPv4 and iPv6 boot failure'. And then it says that there is no boot device. How do I fix this?

Thanks in regards, Kay.

Re: G710 - Can't boot from USB

Hi iKayBear ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

What Windows version came with the machine?

Was it also activated with Windows 8.1?

Check if the new harddrive is detected in the BIOS ,  restart and keep tapping on F12 for the boot manager and check if the USB is offered as a boot device.  If there is a chance very if the USB is bootable on another machine.

Turning on the pc using the Novo button would offer system recovery , One Key Recovery from user back up to proceed. If the OKR software fails then better to proceed with clean installation and not using a recovery backup.

Update us how it goes with your machine.

Regards

Re: G710 - Can't boot from USB

Look in the BIOS under security and make certain secure boot is disabled.
