What I personally do is to slave the drive in an external harddrive enclosure and connect it to another machine. Then it would either allow me to get the files or check if the harddrive is unreadable (so you can isolate the harddrive if it is starting to fail to maybe run a hardware test).
I kinda doubt if the repair disc is bootable since the diagnotics media boot up fine. It can just be a repair tool.
Since Windows 7 is no longer available for download, full recovery disc are purchasable from Lenovo.
Good news is that the mainboard and other major parts are ok and it is just a storage issue that is not as costly as the board.
Restoring the laptop would still sell a good price even without the harddrive. G770 is still a good model and is not that old.
