G780 - Integrated Intel video card used instead of Nvidia GT635M

2013-01-19, 21:36 PM

I have a problem.

My laptop has 2 graphic cards. 1 integrated Intel HD 4000 and Nvidia GT635M with 2GB dedicated ram.

When I open a video game or application like Photoshop that need a lot of memory and a good graphic card, the system uses the integreted card instead of Nvidia, even if I choose to open the specified application with Nvidia video card.

Can anyone help me please, I do not know how to resolve this problem.

Thanks

Checked nVidia's control panel? I'd have a look at the Optimus settings if I were you, my friend had an AMD dedicated GPU and an Intel HD 3000 in her laptop and I showed her the settings in the Catalyst Control Center. Apparently the games/applications weren't set to the right GPU.

I have almost the same laptop as you and I'm looking for a fix to this as well. I really dont want to run the integrated card and there is an app I want to use that just flat out doesn't support optimus. I think if you go into bios you might be able to fix it there, I'm going to try it when I get home tonight.
