I have 20 G780 model name 2182. I can't get any of them to work with wake on lan from shutdown state. I can however get them to work from sleep mode. When laptop shuts down link on NIC turns off aswell.
I have 40 G770 and they all work with wake on lan from shutdown.
I have tried with windows 7, windows 8 and windows 8.1.
I have enabled wake on pattern, wake on magic packet and allow this devices to wake the computer (and only allow a magic packet to wake the computer).
Bios version is latest 96 from 24 Apr 2013
There are no "Wake on lan" features in bios.
I have tried NIC drivers from microsoft, Lenovo website and Atheros official drivers.
I have turned off UAC
I have turned off Firewall
I have turned off all power saving settings
I have tried changing switch, hub and cables just in case.
Am I missing something or are the G780 just not designed for WOL from shutdown state ?
Thanks in advanced

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
This may not be possible. Since this is not supported in BIOS
When the computer is in Hibernate and/or in shutdown state it need to cross the BIOS to wake up the computer or turn it on.
Sleep will be ok since the LAN card supports it and it is the OS that wakes the system up and not the BIOS.

Thanks for the reply but then please tell me this
I have 40 G770 which has the same limit bios as G780 but WOL is working. WOL is only working with the right drivers though. There are no options regarding WOL in the G770 bios ?
