Re: Windows 8.1 update - Can't Start Dolby Audio Driver

2013-11-02, 11:56 AM

Hello! I'm new in these forums and I need help with Dolby AA v2.

Before upgrading to 8.1, I had Advanced Audio v2 working even if I had installed the latest Realtek drivers. After upgrading, however both Windows to 8.1 and Realtek drivers to R2.72, it stopped working. After investigating the settings, the Dolby Advanced Audio Control Panel on Audio Device Settings was replaced with an On/Off switch for Dolby Digital Plus as seen here:

I tried to install a better version of the software but they didn't do anything. On Connexant Audio Pack it pops this message:

It basically says that my Driver has Dolby Digital Plus driver version 7.5.1.1 while the software expects version 7.3.2.2.

Can you help me please? I have no idea what to do next.

The Audio chip is Realtek ALC269.

Can someone explain me why this happens? And there are no upgrade instructions when I checked.

I had the same problem with my N585. if you follow the path: C: drivers - conexant audio drivers - (you then have 2 choices) - dolby digital plus AA or dolby digital plus HT. Click on either and the windows installer will run. I chose the AA suffix and now I have an equalizer, not sure if it'sthe same one as before though. Will try the other one, so this is a partial fix I guess.

I have found a solution to this, coz Dolby Advanced Audio was very important for me... without it, I can never enjoy the movies and music the way I do now... anyways, this is what I did:

I went to the Device Manager and uninstalled both the:
* Internal Microphone (Conexant SmartAudio HD)

* Speakers (Conexant SmartAudio HD)

under the 'Audio inputs and outputs'

Then I went to my LENOVO ( E: ) drive, i.e.my Recovery Drive that has all the drivers and applications that came with my Lenovo G580 laptop... I went to the following directory:

E:\drivers\AUDIO\W8-64

there, I simply ran the UIU64a.exe application... my Audio inputs and outputs were again restored and then I opened Start Screen, typed in Dolby in the Search field, opened the Dolby Profile programme and there it was, the Graphical Equalizer and all the GUI of Dolby Advanced Audio v2.... its working now as it was working prior to the update... please do tell me if someone else fixes it using the same way or not.... it worked for me.... :smileyhappy:

Thanks mate, worked fine for me, did exactly as you said. Gave me an exclamation next to the devices initially in device manager, but a reboot sorted that out.

Also thanks on another level, as I didn't even know I had a Dolby control centre until now! I like the surround virtualizer, very effective! Equalizer great too. Thanks again!! ;)

This doesn't work with Realtek Audio Chipsets.

Found a fix for anyone who has Realtek audio chips. Here's how:

1. Uninstall both Dolby PCEE4 (AA or HT) and Realtek HD Audio Driver.

2. Restart the PC.

3. Go to the Lenovo Recovery Partition > Audio.

4. Launch Setup.exe and on the welcome screen click Next to install them.

5. Restart once again.

Worked for me.
