G780 webcam installation

2014-07-08, 20:48 PM

G780 with Windows 7-64bit.

I uninstalled everything related to the webcam when the machine was new, as I had no desire or use for it.. However, now I would like to re-install for use in an unusual way.
My question is- does the webcam  have settings to enable incoming transmissions only ? not a 2-way.  Weird,  I know, but that's what I want for a particular purpose.  I'd rather not download everything without knowing and if it's not possible, will leave it uninstalled.

I'm aware of the driver and software info  from a previous post --

Hi Ktz,

Welcome to Lenovo Community!

I understand your concern and the only available option is to Enable/Disable the webcam and the will not have any settings to Enable/Disable Incoming/Outgoing transmissions.

Do post us back for further queries.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Re: G780 webcam installation

2016-01-25, 10:57 AM

I bought a G780 a few years ago and after installing Windows 8.1 (and now Windows 10) my internal webcam doesn't work. Whatever I did (reïnstalling the software over and over, reboot my machine, try to find new drivers etc. etc.) I called service for many times (and had to pay many euros even before I got a service agent on the line. All my effort to get my webcam working didn't succed until now. The only possibility that was given to me is going back to factory settings and reinstall ALL software again. I did that twice and it costed me over two days every time to have everyting reinstalled.

Last week I called the service agent again. He didn't suggest to have a look in my laptop through Teamviewer or any other possibility and only advised to send the computer in for service and told me I had to reinstall the complete software range again after service.

As you will understand I am very dissatisfied with the product; never before I had to reinstall any laptop I bought (Dell, HP, Compaq etc). Please help me out.

Eduard
