How to change fom Dolby Digital Plus interface to older DD v2 interface?

After updated the W7 OS to W8.1 OS, I noticed that Conexant driver comes with a new interface, DD+, as in the picture bellow:

DD+.jpg

Is there a possibility to install the older v2 version of DD? The sound is way worser than under v2 DD. The Sound Virtualizer don t work... Also, I cannot set the DD+ icon to stay in Traybar. Is there a solution?

Re: How to change fom Dolby Digital Plus interface to older DD v2 interface?

hi gdvlad,

Thanks for Posting!

The Sound driver needs to match the Dolby Software version.

Im not sure if this will work, but you give this a try.

First Step.

   Clearing out the current Version.

                   Sound Driver

Open Device Manager and uninstall the Audio Driver from sound and gaming controllers. (Place a check under Delete driver software prompt). restart the PC.

                    Dolby Software

Open Control Panel / Uninstall a program.

Uninstall all Dolby Components you can see from the list.

                  Left over Folders

Open Driver C: and Check for any folders that says Driver.

                                 Delete that folder

Second Step.

    Installing the old Version

                  Sound Driver

                        Download and Try Installing this:

                               Conexant Audio Driver

                   Dolby Software

                        Open Drive C:

Look for a folder that says Driver (This is the same folder you deleted earlier but this is a new one re-written from your new installation)

Open Conexant Folder and Open Dolby GUI and Install the Dolby Advanced Audio.

If everything pushed through you should have the old interface.

If not, Tell me where you had problems with the steps.

Regards

Solid Cruver

Re: How to change fom Dolby Digital Plus interface to older DD v2 interface?

Thank you very much for the driver. Though, when I try to set driver, an error occurs and DD v2 don't work properly. See bellow:

Can you teach me how to fix it?

EDIT: obviously, the driver don't work, unfortunatelly, just play the DEMO and see that, ON or OFF, the same sound quality, no change. Smiley Sad

Re: How to change fom Dolby Digital Plus interface to older DD v2 interface?

I'm deeply grateful to Solid_Cruver for help me to solve my problem. All it's working OK now. Many thanks for the great support!

Justifying my choice, I would say that DD+ seems to be optimized for touchscreen, while DD v2 for non-touchscreens. Maybe Lenovo should have in mind to develop drivers for both platforms.

Re: How to change fom Dolby Digital Plus interface to older DD v2 interface?

Yes, why not?

Tthe solution is to uninstall W8.1 driver and all related to Dolby Digital, first from Programs and Features, then from device manager, including from Audio inputs and outputs, then from Sound, video and game controllers. Download the w8 (not 8.1) driver and install it (the W7 driver don't work, at least didn't work to me). Now, a tricky part: uninstall the GUI for DDv2, by using the installer from C:/driver/Conexant. Restart the PC and reinstall the GUI from the above mentioned location. And Voila! you'll have DDv2 interface.

Re: How to change fom Dolby Digital Plus interface to older DD v2 interface?

Just tried DD with my in-ear Sony headphones and, unfortunatellly the Sound Virtualizer still don't work. Something's wrong and must be corrected in the drivers for W8.1.

Re: How to change fom Dolby Digital Plus interface to older DD v2 interface?

I think sound virtulizer is for in built speakers only

i dont hear any difference in my headphones either, rest of the effects do work.

Im now using the Windows 8 versioni of Conexant HD audio drivers and Dolby Advanced Audio v2.

Yes, drivers need to be updated and fixed for Windows 8.1
