Intel HD Graphics family issues on a Lenovo g50-70 i3-4030u

Hello , I have just got a  Lenovo g50-70 i3-4030u running on a Windows 8.1, I installed all the drivers from the DVD provided and my graphics card appears not to be working properly, for example I have tried installing Age of Empires 3 , and it says that my current graphics card has only 32 MB and the game will not run properly. GTA IV says the same, 32 MB appendure size. Any ideas?

Re: Intel HD Graphics family issues on a Lenovo g50-70 i3-4030u

hi andrewcezar,

Welcome to the Forums.

Can you right click on the desktop, choose Graphics Properties and post a screenshot of the system information

  - Sample image

  - Sample image

From the list below, Ageof Empires III should be playable on the Intel Core i3-4030u which is powered by Intel HD Graphics 4400. As for GTA IV, I doubt this game will run as it doesn't meet the minimum system requirements

Thanks for the prompt reply.

I am right clicking on graphic properties and I do not see any System Information tab in there, instead this is all I see . Here is a screenshot of what I have :

And looking up here it seems like Age of Empires III sees the dedicated video memory of 32 MB instead of the 1760 MB shared memory...

Re: Intel HD Graphics family issues on a Lenovo g50-70 i3-4030u

hi there,

Thanks for the images. The last one shows that your Intel HD Graphics has 32MB dedicated video memory. Age of Empires III requires at least 64MB and this is likely the reason why you're not able to run the game.

Age of Empires III Minimum System Requirements

On the other hand, the Total Available Graphics Memory is your video memory which is taken out from the RAM (see shared memory grapghics for more info).

Hello,

So then I won't be able to play any games basically.. Is there a dedicated graphics card slot so I can buy and install one?

hi there,

You can still play games but you need to test it first if the system can run it.

As for a dedicated graphics card slot, the the GPU on the G50-70 is integrated to the CPU, which is soldered on the motherboard and there's no port dedicated port (MXM slot) for an external GPU.
