Issue with Lenovo B560 - Wireless LAN Adapter - WLAN

2011-09-05, 8:15 AM

Dear community,

I've recently bought two Lenovo B560 (Win7 64bit, Broadcom WLAN device). Both are connected wireless to the internet. One of the B560 loses the wireless connection in irregular intervals. Sometimes it's 5 minutes, then 30 minutes up to one hour or longer.

If happened so the B560 won't connect with the wlan-router anymore. My home wlan is not listed any longer in the list of found networks. Resetting the wlan device and repairing the internet connection with Win7 don't work. The only thing that fixes this issue temporarily is to restart the B560 which is of course annoying.

The chipset and wlan device driver are up to date. I unchecked the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" and configured the other power settings. The wlan-router is a new Netgear WNR1000, and I've only got problems with that particular B560, not with other notebooks.

Lenovo has already replaced the wlan device a few weeks ago. But still the issue isn't fixed. Has anyone further ideas what to do?

I'd appreciate your help very much!

Regards,

Marco

I have installed the ReadyComm application which showed the same issue after running quite a while. Now I let Win7 manage the wlan connection.

un-install and check if the issue persists.

I've uninstalled ReadyComm today and a few minutes ago the b560 has lost the wlan connection again.

It is very annoying. Imagine working with multiple windows and browser tabs, and then you have to restart your laptop continously.

can you check modem's manufacturers website for possible firmware upgrade?

Already done. All relevant drivers or firmware are up to date (wlan device, dsl modem, wlan router, chipset).

A staff member at the retail seller assumed that new Windows updates cause conflicts. I can rule this out because the second B560 has got installed the same Windows updates and on this machine the wlan device is running properly.

Yes, I've installed this version. I even know the driver version by heart because I have often had a look on the wlan device properties the last weeks.

can you check if the issue persists on linux?
( no need to install linux, you can try "live" cd )
