LCD display dark, but with a flash light can still see the desktop faintly

2017-02-07, 21:18 PM

My G570 is acting strange,  OS is windows 10.  Laptop works with external display but will not work with the local LCD. But if I flash a light on the screen I can see the screen shown on the external display. I am not getting any light on the LCD. LCD light settings adjusted to high.

Any help will be appreciated.

There are 2 common things that can cause the problem:

1)  Blown fuse in the motherboard

2) Hall sensor in lid

The Hall sensor is a magnetic switch that senses when the lid is closed.  It determines that event when a magnet in the palmrest or keyboard bezel gets near to the switch in the lid.  A brolen palmrest or failed sensor will cause it not to work.

Hi,

In addtion to what richk mentioned, the LCD backlight might defective also, and you would need to get the lcd panel replaced.

Cheers,
