After updating the bios 62cn40ww the laptop performance declined, then I was advised to update to 62cn97ww bios version hoping to make it better, but it became worse. I need to know the bios version that came preinstalled from factory.
Can you give me a list of bios version for G580 20157? As I want to downgrade the bios to factory one.

What OS are you running? ie,win 7 or 8. 32 bit or 64 bit?
version 40 is for win 7.
version 97 is for win 8
Did you upgrade from 7 to 8?

A G580 is not on the supported list.
How much memory do you have?

It's got 4gb RAM. I have tried Windows 8 and 8.1 as well, the performance was still bad. With the factory BIOS installed, the performance was good. But after the BIOS update the performance degraded. I don't remember the factory BIOS version.

A G580 review[not your exact model]. It states win8 should run just fine.
You may have another issue, not BIOS related(?).
To be on the safe side, I would install win7 on your machine.

Yeah tried that, installed Windows 7 too,but couldn't regain the performance. Games started to lag, the laptop overheats even without any software or process running. I got the fans checked too, they are fine.

Since you run games, you may want to add 4GB of memory and stick with win 8.
You need to task manager>performance to find your bottleneck.

The games that used to work with factory BIOS version, doesn't work anymore. They just lag . I'll take your advice and try upgrading the RAM and see if there is any improvement in performance.
