Lenovo 3000 G410 2049-34Q

2008-06-17, 13:26 PM
Everything is working fine, except bluetooth and Wireless (Wifi):

1. How do i switch off bluetooth?
The LED light always shows 'blue' in color. Fn+5 key has no effect on wireless either.

2. Since the laptop was pre-installed with DOS, i installed Windows XP 32-bit on "D" drive. How can i configure or set Quick-Recovery key., so that in future, i dont commit much time finding and installing drivers.

3. I have upgraded it to 1GB RAM (from 512MB), shall i install Windows Vista on it to have more value from the Laptop?

[ Configuration on Site:
T5250(1.5GHz), 512MB RAM, 120GB 5400rpm HD, 14.1in 1280x800 LCD, Intel X3100, CDRW/DVDRW, Broadcom 802.11bg wireless, Bluetooth, Modem, 10/100 Ethernet, 6c Li-Ion, DOS license ]

1) You can turn off the hardware switch on notebook. That will turn off both bluetooth and WiFi. Fn+F5 works only after all drivers installation.

2) For now you can't customize NOVO function.

3)No. Vista is not that good as Microsoft tries to tell. besides, 1 GB will cause huge freeezes and inslowings in Vista. At least 2 Gb needed to work fine inVista.

1) There is no harware Switch on laptop for bluetooth!

(If you have some picture or link, do tell me).

2) Thanks, Windows XP is running fine, hopefully see in future if i can upgrade to more than 1GB.

It has been since 8 months I am using Laptop, i think my bluetooth will damage or wearoff (since it is switched on all the time). How much is the life of bletooth radio? if some one knows?

Hardware switch on laptop is made both for WiFi and Bluetooth.

Besides, Fn+F5 combination runs a small utility that handles both WiFI and Bluetooth.

Can't tell on instant work of Bluetooth but I suggest it's OK to run it all the time. The only issue is about battery consumption - it will work less.

Thanks a lot. I will try re-installing the utility which handles this. And will keep the forum updated about the respective solution.

Update:

Found the button to switch-off Bluetooth on right side of the laptop, (Just Next to Power Adapter connector).

Thanks skripatch.
