I recently bought a Lenovo B430 with a Celeron B830 inside and was thinking about upgrading to an Ivy Bridge CPU. My question is: do I have to do any BIOS update on it? My BIOS version is HOET36WW from 2012-08-20
Thanks in advance and sorry for the bad english!

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to inform that Lenovo B430 Laptop is only compatible with the Celeron processor range as Ivy Bridge new technology the Motherboard/System board will not be compatible with the normal working of the computer, this is the reason the BIOS update is only available for Celeron processors only.
Do post us back for further queries.

Hi there! Thanks for the reply!
As far as I know the B430 is sold with the Pentium B960 and the i3 2328M too. Also this list of compatible parts list some Ivy Bridge processors up to the i7 3612QM as possible options: http://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkPad/b430_fru_list_20121012.pdf
I´m confused now. Can you clarify this for me?

OK! I have a Lenovo B430 acquired at the end of 2013 the CPU is a Pentium B960, the CPUID and the Lenovo Solution Center says that the socket is rPGA988B but in the physical motherboard slot this marking socket rPGA989. The Intel Pentium B960 is the site socket rPGA988B. The motherboard is model 627024P chipset Intel HM77 SB bios H0ET36WW. After all this motherboard accepts or not the i5 2420m or as already sold and the i3 2338m. Remembered that according to intel CPU these are all rPGA988B sockets.
