Lenovo B50-30 Atheros ar956x connect to 5GHz network

2017-02-20, 18:01 PM

I've seen several threads but still no answer. I'm running Windows 10 Home 64bit and I want to use my 5GHz network but I can't see the SSID. What do I need to change to use the 5GHz?

My Atheros Driver says it's version 3.0.3.201. I downloaded the Win 10 driver, extracted it but my computer says I have the lastest driver already. Please help.

Hello TerryMac,

Thanks for joining the forums.

I believe that your card is only able to connect to 2.4 GHZ networks. If you can set your card for the 40MHz bandwidth, the theoretical maximum data rate is 150 Mbps. Otherwise in the 20MHz bandwidth, 65 or 72.22 Mbps is normal. To connect to the 5 GHz band, the card must be rated as A/B/G/N, or AC.

Check out this article, this may also help.

Hope this help you, let us know how you get on
