Lenovo B50-30 touch won't go pass Lenovo Splash

I've had this lattop for roughly 3 years ... Last year I had a problem and stopped using it and found it now while I'm moving. I want to use it but there's a problem, when I boot it up it won't go pass the black and white Lenovo Splash screen I'm pretty sure I'm trying to get it into Bios but it's not working and If I got to turn it off I f I touch the power button it instantly turns off I don't have to hold it down or anything . Anyone can help please ?

Hi SirDragon

 

Welcome to the Community Forums.

 

I would suggest a power drain initially.

Unplug the charger and remove the battery, then press and hold down the power button for 12 seconds and release. Press it again for another 12 seconds to ensure power drain.

 

You can place back the battery and charger and use the Novo button to turn on instead of the power. This should give a Novo menu to start the BIOS where you can FN+F9 to load defaults FN+F10. 

 

The issue may be isolated with boot process or hard drive integrity so removing the hard drive or booting to another live media ( as example here) on a USB would allow you to distinguish the point of failure.

I didn't mean to hit solve but it's practically solved I got to a new screen saying that boot failed or crashed
... So I put in my windows 7 recovery disk and it still gives me problems

Hi SirDragon

 

On a lighter side, we can say that we have a better status as the motherboard is not the issue although the integrity of the hard drive or the image it has may not be good.

 

If you have data to backup from the drive, you may want to take the option of placing it on an external harddrive enclosure and check if the harddrive is still ok or readable on another computer.

I tried plugging it into my Chromebook and nothing came up I'm gonna check later on a different latop but windows base and not chrome os

Greetings.

 

Hope the harddrive is still ok (readable/writable) so that you can get a backup of your data.

But if you have a spare harddrive to install the same Windows version that came with the laptop then you can proceed to install the drivers (here is the support site) and you can get back to business soon.
