Lenovo B50-45 Switchable Graphics Problem

Hi,

I'm having extremely bad problems. I bought this laptop especially for the dedicated GPU and I play games such as Sims 3, Sims 4 and GTA V and even though they're set to "high performance" in AMD, it still uses the integrated GPU. Apparently it has something to do with OpenGL. If they won't let the GPU be used with OpenGL, then what's the point in there being the GPU? A lot of games use OpenGL..... Is there a way to force my computer to use the dedicated GPU? There's no fixed option in BIOS. Only UMA or Switchable. I've tried UMA and that disables the dedicated GPU completely. It disappears from device manager.

Thanks.

Re: Lenovo B50-45 Switchable Graphics Problem

You can force the discrete GPU (AMD) to run all the time, by going to bios and set it to discrete graphics mode. But this will draw more power and produce more heat, however the graphics performance will be higher.

Technically, the Intel integrated graphics is always active, although it is not always in use. AMD graphics will turn on and off according to need. Software from AMD called AMD Catalyst automatically switches between integrated (Intel) and dedicated (AMD) graphics, according to the application.

Update us how it goes.

Re: Lenovo B50-45 Switchable Graphics Problem

I've already done everything. I've done everything that article says. I don't have AMD Crossfire in my CCC so no idea. I've tried installing the latest updates, I've tried using the driver that comes with the laptop. I've read forums online like HP which say that there needs to be a fixed or switchable option in BIOS and seems I don't have that, there's not much I can do.

Re: Lenovo B50-45 Switchable Graphics Problem

The laptop has both AMD CPU and GPU. So no intel for me.

Re: Lenovo B50-45 Switchable Graphics Problem

If it’s not displayed in BIOS, then system came with only integrated graphics. However, please provide the MTM number for further assistance.
