I'd like to introduce myself with my very first post in this community.
So, I'd like to upgrade my Lenovo B590 (I know it's an old one ).
Currently my specs are: - Intel Celeron 1005M 1,90GHz; 8 Gb DDR3 Ram (which i perfectly upgraded); 450 Gb HDD and Windows 10 - 64x and this mainboard Socket 988B rPGA (G2 if I am correct).
Thanks to this forum an other posts like this one: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-B-and-G-Series-Notebooks/B590-Processor-Upgrade/td-p/1948989 I could figure out more like for e.g. which CPU's are compatible.
So my question is I actually found on ebay an Intel Core i5 Mobile CPU Socket G2 PGA 988 with the following FRU 40W0492, but on the Lenovo Maintenance Manual the FRU of the i5 is completey different (102001067). So is my laptop with this CPU incompatible 100%? Aren't FRU numbers supposed to have 7 numbers with letters? Or am I wrong?
Thank you in advance and sorry for my english I haven't talked it for 3 years or so.

Welcome to the Community Forums.
The post mentioned upgrade for Pentium B980 to Intel I5-2520M (Sandy bridge).
A service part Field Replacement Unit (FRU) is used to replace a defective part installed or attached to your computer. Service part FRUs are identified by a 7-digit number on the part itself (for example, FRU P/N 11x1111).
You can check the the Lenovo FRU if valid here in the parts lookup page searching by part number.
I hope this helps answer your query.

First of all thank you for the quick answer!
So I checked both of your links and I also searched for the CPU you mentioned (i5-3210M IvyBridge L-03MB 2c PGA 2.5GHz STD 35W processor), unfortunately it seems to be very hard to find for a few euros. I found some from the US but the shipping itself would cost me about 40-50 euros.
That said, I assume that I can look for the i3-3110M Ivy Bridge instead am I right? It has the same socket and is Ivy Bridge too. And the upgrade would be worth too I guess (Celeron 1.9GHz -------> Intel core 2.4GHz).
Thanks again for your support!

It would be best to choose it by OEM part number among the listed CPU from the hardware manual.
Here with the same Ivy bridge G2 socket like PN 102500301 CPU, i5-3210M Ivy Bridge L-0 3MB 2c PGA 2.5GHz STD 35W processor or PN 102500303 CPU, i3-3110M Ivy Bridge L-0 3MB 2c PGA 2.3GHz STD 35W processor as second choice.
