Lenovo B590 will not charge a new Green Cell battery

2020-01-05, 5:28 AM

I've recently purchased a new Green Cell battery, because my old one is about to die. It detected the battery's charge and allowed it to discarge. However, it will not charge the battery.

I've looked into other forum's entries. Everyone seems to suggest to tinker with Lenovo power management utility. The trouble is, I do not use Windows. My OS is Arch Linux.

Here's an output from ACPI:

Battery 0: Unknown, 0%

If I disconnect the power supply, the laptop will switch off completely in a matter of seconds.

Hi sudoLife,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

It is possible that there is an issue with the systemboard distributing power to the batteries.

I would recommend installing Windows 10 to try to isolate the issue by using the Power management utility.

Hope this helps.
