Lenovo G40-30 Not Starting

2016-07-10, 2:42 AM

Hello everyone!!!

My first post on this forum.

I actually have a problem on my Lenovo G40-30 (Model name: 80FY). It is just a year old, but it is not starting up. Last time I checked, the hard drive was not detected. I then did a power drain, but it did not work. I did all sorts of various things, but none succeeded.

What should I do? I think the main problem is at the hard drive, either defective or not actually detected. And I actually don't know how to detect the hard drive (Noobish).

Thanks.

Hi there, Sydrenz-

Thank you for writing in to the Lenovo Forum - happy to have you here today.

  1. Unplug AC adapter
  2. Connect every usb power consumer in laptop's ports (phone for example)
  3. When battery runs out of charge keep trying turning on your laptop, until the battery led won't flash anymore
  4. When the battery is completely discharged, press and hold the power button for 10 seconds (I did this 3 times every 10 minutes to be 100% sure)
  5. Plug your AC adapter and boot normally

You can also check booting system by removing HDD.

Update us how it goes.

What I remember about my laptop is that it once overheated when I was on my class (I'm a student). After that the USB ports were not working anymore.

Is that one reason why my laptop was not working? By the way, when I try to start (boot) my laptop, it shuts down for no reason.

I also know that my laptop has some virus inside. I just dont have time to remove them, sorry.

Clean heatsink first, may apply new thermal paste, you can cut the blue wire later and reattach it again if not found appropriate...Please go through this HMM for better understading.

And please report results,

Dissembling computer may void your warranty. Before that, call Lenovo support line and make sure if it won't harm your warranty.

Update us how it goes.
