2018-10-10, 18:06 PM

Whenever i turn My lenovo G40-70 on it comes on but immediately after showing the lenovo logo at start up screen goes completely blank but power is still on.

I have tried the hard reboot but didn't work. What else can I do to fix it.

Hi Oreoluwa,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

I believe that the machine can stay with the display in the BIOS.

You can try the methods in this article that may be related to the issue.

Update us how it goes.

Regards

Hi spidey101,

Thanks for your answer. I tried turning on the laptop again this morning, it came on but I noticed that the light was very dim so I couldn't see anything on the laptop. I think the laptop's working but the light is too dim for me to see anything anything on it. I have tried increasing the brightness but it didn't work.

I am not sure what to do.

Thank you.

I just did that now. The backlight keeps coming on and going off.

Thanks.

I see. Thanks for trying those steps. If you're currently using Windows 10, download the Lenovo Vantage from Microsoft Store and use it to install the latest drivers and BIOS.

https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/ht505081

If it's still the same, check the screen in BIOS

Let us know how it goes.

The laptop is working fine now. Though I am yet to try to check the screen in Bios. If the backlight goes off again I will try to check the screen in bios though I am currently using Windows 8.1.

Thanks for your help.

Hi Oreoluwa,

Greetings.

Good to here it is ok now.

I do feel that this may be an intermittent issue rather than just a software issue. Hardware integrity should be checked.

As initially advised, if the same dimming screen happens in the BIOS  but runs ok when you connect it to the an external monitor (when booted in Windows) then best to check the LCD cable and panel. Reseating it can be agood starting plan.

Please do not hesitate to visit our community at anytime.

Regards
