Laptop: Lenovo G40-80
Processor: Intel Core i5 5200U @ 2.20GHz
RAM: 4,00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 1600MHz SODIMM
I just have a question: I want to upgrade my RAM to 8GB. I've read my PC specifications and it says that I have a DDR3 RAM. I've looked at other forum posts about the Lenovo G40-80 RAM upgrade but it they are talking about DDR3L RAM G40-80s. I've looked here: http://psref.lenovo.com/syspool/Sys/PDF/Lenovo%20Laptops/Lenovo%20G40/Lenovo_G40_Platform_Specificat... and there it does say DDR3L. I have a DDR3 :/. Anyways, my question is: Do I need to buy a DDR3 RAM or a DRR3L RAM? Because I'm confused.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. this is my first forum post. If I've done something wrong, I'm sorry about that!

Welcome to the Community Forums.
Would you have the MTM / machine number of your laptop to verify the current RAM?
You may also get the part number of the assigned RAM and MTM here on the parts lookup page.
G40-80 models: 16GB max / PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3L, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets
Get a DDR3L (low voltage) memory stick. They work both on DDR3 and DDR3L systemboards but DDR3 ram do not guarantee that it would work on a DDR3L board.
Hope this helps answer your query.

With parts lookup of the MTM 80E400DRNX here does show you have Part number 11202706 SK HMT451S6BFR8A-PB 4GB DDR3L 1600 with 21 different substitutes available too.
Some tools reading DDR specification can at times be non detailed as the actual product specs of manufacturer but it is good that you tried checking it first with us here in our community as you did with the product sheet.
Please don't hesitate to visit our community at anytime.
** edit notes:
Yes, it is ideal to get similar Part number 11202706 SK HMT451S6BFR8A-PB 4GB DDR3L 1600.
Doesn't have to be same brand as long as you get the same specifications (low voltage DDR3L PC3-12800 1600MHz).
You can get another 4GB and even an 8GB also if you need more.

Yeah it worked perfectly. I went to a computer shop for assistance because I don't want my computer to be broken, haha. Turns out it was very easy to do. I didn't have to pay for the assistance of course. It's always smart to be careful and get help when you don't know how to do things.
