G460 - upgrade memory ram

Good evening,
I know the maximum memory supported this model is 8GB (4GB in 2 slots), but at what frequency it operates.
Thanks in advance.
(I hope my English is good).

Re: G460 - upgrade memory ram

hi ricardorlsj,

as you may notice, there is some information at the first page. please, check these first and if you have different chipset, please, let me know.

also your mainboard may not support 8gb.

"you can upgrade 1333 mhz ram, if your mainboard doesn't support that speed, it'll downclock it to the 1066."

Re: G460 - upgrade memory ram

it's 1066mhz.

4gb std / 8gb max7 / pc3-8500 1066mhz ddr3, non-parity,
dual-channel capable, two 204-pin so-dimmsockets;
Italics: standard memory in both sockets; no sockets available

Re: G460 - upgrade memory ram

Hi,

I own a Lenovo G460 laptop and while trying to upgrade my RAM from 2gb to 4gb in one of the slots, system keeps on going to first bootup page and never gets in.

Then, i removed the existing RAMs and just installed the new RAM (Transcend 4GB - DDR3 1333 SO) but it results in blue screen.

Please let me know how to resolve this. Wil the new RAM be supported by G460 model?

Processor: Intel Core i3 380M

Chipset: Intel HM55

Re: G460 - upgrade memory ram

hm55 may not support 8gb. (4gb ram per slot)

"you can upgrade 1333 mhz ram, if your mainboard doesn't support that speed, it'll downclock it to the 1066."

if you have option to change the brand, it may work but no guarantee.

Re: G460 - upgrade memory ram

The problem is that EVERY answer comes from the perspective of the "ram" specks.

As a lenovo forum we need the answer backward compatible ;-)

We know that the ram will work what we don't know is WHICH ram will work for sure as lenovoG460 has plenty of exception.

At least how to make sure.?
